1. Are you a state employee (agency) or a county employee?
Neither. We are employees of the Pamlico County ABC Board.
(See
the description for ABC Boards in North Carolina.) However the
rules, regulations and prices are "controlled" by the State.
2. Who sets the prices? Are they different in every store?
The North Carolina ABC Commission publishes a quarterly price book
that lists all items offered for purchase by ABC Boards in North
Carolina. This book is effective every February, May, August and
November. All stores are required to use these prices.
3. I was in another store about a week ago, and their prices were
cheaper than yours. I thought all
prices were supposed to be the
same in every store in the State?
The prices are the same. For example, let's say that you were in the
other store on April 30th and purchased a product for $10.95. Then
you came to our store on May 2nd. The same product is priced at
$12.95. The difference is due to the fact that all prices in all stores
changed on May 1st. The product that is $12.95 in our store is also
$12.95 in the other store.
4. What if you don't stock a product I would like to purchase?
If the product is offered in the North Carolina Price Book and
you feel
you will purchase it on a regular basis, then we will stock the product
on our shelves. If it is not listed in the price book, we can look outside
of North Carolina for what you want. This is what is called a "special
order". Special orders however cannot be stocked on our shelves.
You must purchase the product by the case and pay for it in advance.
5. What does ABC mean?
Alcoholic Beverage Control
